Birds:

After waking up yesterday, I went to the living room upstairs and I was perplexed by some bird shit that was on the window.  It was your run-of-the-mill bird dropping, but I was confused as to how it might have arrived on this particular window.  This window has a 2-3 foot overhang above it, so this couldn’t have fallen from high above.  The bird must have been flying towards the window, let loose, then started pulling away.  A bird dive-bombed my window!  It’s an incredible feat of avionics.  How dare he?!

Today:

I was driving up in the avenues after trying out this sub place for lunch.  My destination was this church with a gate that I wanted to photograph.  I parked my car, loaded my camera, and noticed a dead bird on the road beside me.  It was not only did, but dismembered and pulverized.  Some vehicle had run over it and spread the parts around.  The bird, now separated and one foot long, drew me in.  I found this to be a fascinating, yet grotesque site.  Its wings were spread; it was looking forward, trying to fly away, to escape.  How fitting, to get mowed down while trying to escape.

Before I knew it, 10 frames of film were gone, and the gate I wanted to photograph was open instead of being the way I wanted to capture it, closed to the world.  Oh well, I guess it really didn’t matter.
