Baseball Strike II
Once again, baseball players are planning on going on strike. I do not even know what the strike is about this time around, but I am sure it's about money again. 'Professional athletes' are some of the most overpaid people on earth. Granted, we live in a capitalist society,
but do these people really deserve to be paid more than doctors, scientists, and teachers? Why in the world did anybody give into their demands the first time they went on strike?
What? You don't enjoy getting paid hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars per year? Try seeing where your skills will get you in the real world. Yeah, I'd say you'd be lucky to make as much as a
garbage man, but that'd be insulting those people who haul away our refuse week after week. Why don't we give raises to people that actually serve a useful purpose in our society?
What should be done if the players strike again? Absolutely nothing. Let major league baseball collapse. Let the sport die. Yes, it might be painful to some people for a while, but we'd be better off. Maybe a new league would eventually form where players actually play for the love of the game, not for
ridiculous multi-million dollar paychecks.
Maybe hearing the players stop bitching is too much to ask for.
