Umami Kushi, a set on Flickr.

I did another round of photos for Umami Kushi at Sake Nomi in Seattle WA in May 2011. Harold’s the chef and his food is delicious! The new photos (plus all the old ones) are in the set posted to flickr.

Bread – Pain au Levain

Pain au Levain with whole-wheat flour and rye flour.

Bread – Roasted Garlic

Roasted garlic bread. Made with a little whole wheat flour, olive oil, a small portion of my sourdough sponge.

This is what today’s garlic bread looks like on the inside. Really delicious… the texture’s like potato bread.

Bread – Beer Bread

My second attempt at beer bread. This time, I let the poolish ferment for about 14 hours, instead of 12. The aroma was much stronger and more sour. Can’t wait to try it.

Bread – Beer

Mmm… fresh boob bread… er beer bread.

My friend Andrew shared this on Facebook.  This article is very informative and easy to understand.  It breaks down what happened in Japan with the Fukushima nuclear plant after the big earthquake and tsunami last week.

I did some volunteer work for Habitat For Humanity this past weekend. It was a great experience, definitely very rewarding. The people actually doing the building are some true heroes. They dedicate their time and expertise to provide housing to the poor. I encourage you to check out Habitat For Humanity (Seattle/South King County’s) website and lend them a hand someday.

Oscar results 2011

A month ago, I tried to make Academy Awards picks in 13 categories.  http://www.digitalsingularity.com/blog/?p=1233
Well, I didn’t do such a good job in guessing.  I got 6/13 correct… so less than 50%.  I don’t imagine I’d do so well in Las Vegas.  Here’s the list:
Best Actress: Natalie Portman
Cinematography:  Inception
Music (Original Score): The Social Network
Sound Editing: Inception
Sound Mixing: Inception
Visual Effects: Inception
And…  Christopher Nolan deserved to at least be nominated for Best Director.  It’s really a shame that he wasn’t.
