Ugh, I can’t believe we treat animals in this fashion. Some Asian countries will cage bears and harvest bile from them. It’s horribly painful and cruel. Here’s a story about a mother bear that killed her cub, then herself. It sounds like bears in this situation will often try to kill themselves. Hmm… bears are smart enough to know how to bring an end to their pain… this bear was smart enough to kill her child to spare it more suffering, then kill herself.
